Another pair of hands at coat check

The concert ended, and the coat-check queue needed one more person behind the counter.

At the end of the concert, the first few coats were easy. Then the foyer filled.

Mina took the tickets while Leo searched the numbered rails. Each time he reached the far end, another small pile of tickets had appeared. Their supervisor, Ren, was sorting spare programs at the information desk around the corner.

Before doors opened, the staff had agreed on a PingRoom Quick Ping for extra help. Mina waited until she had handed a coat to its owner, then pressed “Extra hands at coat check, please.”

Ren saw the Ping, left the remaining programs with a colleague, and came around the corner. Mina kept taking tickets. Ren joined Leo at the rails.

The three settled into a rhythm. A guest found the scarf she thought she had left upstairs tucked inside her coat sleeve. By the time the foyer was nearly empty, Mina could finally return the pen she had borrowed from Ren.
