Start a focus session so your study group knows when the work period ends. Start another countdown when it’s time for a break.
How to start and finish
- Start
- Name the activity and choose a duration. The timer uses its deadline to keep counting down; you don’t need to post each passing second.
- Update
- Let the timer run while you get on with the activity. If the session ends early, finish the countdown from the room.
- Finish
- When the deadline passes, PingRoom completes the activity and sends a “Time is up” alert. Notification delivery still depends on the device and its settings.

- Name the job and set its starting percentage. Use Progress when you have a total to work toward, such as files to upload or orders to pack.
- Update
- Change the percentage from the room, or have a connected tool report it. PingRoom shows the progress you send; it doesn’t measure another app’s work itself.
- Finish
- Mark the activity complete after checking the result. Setting the bar to 100% doesn’t finish it automatically, so there’s room for a final check.

- Choose the labels and values that matter for this activity. Include units in the values, such as kilometres, minutes, repetitions, or orders.
- Update
- Update the values yourself, or connect a tool to supply them. PingRoom displays those values; it doesn’t track workouts or take measurements.
- Finish
- End the activity to leave the final values in the room. Use Metrics when people need several numbers to understand how a session went.

- Write a title and message that give people the detail they need: what you’re doing, where to meet, or what they’re waiting for.
- Update
- The app keeps your message visible until you finish the activity. Choose Steps to advance through a sequence in the app. A connected tool can update a status card’s message.
- Finish
- Mark it complete when you arrive or finish the task, or failed if you can’t complete it. The result stays in the room.

Ask your partner to pick between two meals. Once they choose, both of you can see the plan and get on with ordering or cooking.

- Write the prompt and give it two to four choices. Make each label specific enough that someone can answer without opening another conversation.
- Update
- The first eligible answer settles the Question for everyone. Questions collect one decision; they don’t tally votes from every member.
- Finish
- The chosen answer stays visible in the room. A Question can also expire or be cancelled. The demo above stays on this page; it doesn’t ask anyone or send a Ping.

Move from order placed to cooking to on the way. Your flatmates can check the stage without asking you for another update.
How to start and finish
- Start
- Write between two and eight step labels in order. Choose the sequence before starting; the labels stay fixed for that activity.
- Update
- Advance the current step as the work moves forward. The highlighted stage changes on the same card for everyone in the room.
- Finish
- Mark the activity complete when the work is finished. Reaching the last step alone doesn’t end it; completion fills the whole tracker.

- Name the two sides, set their starting scores, and add the game or round. Keep the labels short enough to recognise at a glance.
- Update
- Whoever starts the activity keeps score from the room. Update points as play continues, and correct any mistakes.
- Finish
- Finish the activity when the match ends to leave the final score in the room. PingRoom displays the scores you supply; it doesn’t referee or decide the winner.

Availability depends on your device, OS, and notification settings.
How do I start one?
Open your room’s composer, choose Live Activity, and pick an example. Customize it, update it as you go, then finish with a result. Countdowns finish at their deadline; Questions settle with the first eligible answer.
You can start up to 50 new Live Activities per day on either plan. Updating or finishing an existing activity does not use that allowance. Connected agents have separate daily limits.
Can my tools send the updates?
Yes. A connected agent or incoming webhook can keep the same card current. Incoming webhooks require Pro; connected agents have their own free allowance.
