How to Change the PingRoom App Icon on iPhone

Choose one of PingRoom's built-in alternate icons, check the Home Screen result, and restore the default whenever you want.

To change PingRoom's icon on iPhone, open PingRoom → Settings → App Icon, then tap one of the built-in choices. iOS applies the selection to the real PingRoom app on your Home Screen. Choose Default in the same picker whenever you want the original four-node icon back.

This is an app-provided alternate icon, not a shortcut that launches PingRoom through another app. Your Rooms, Pings, notification settings, and account do not change with the artwork.

Choose an icon in PingRoom

  1. Open PingRoom on your iPhone.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Tap App Icon.
  4. Tap the icon you want to use.
  5. Accept the iOS confirmation if one appears.
  6. Return to the Home Screen and find PingRoom.

The selected choice is marked in PingRoom's picker. The Home Screen is the better final check because that is where iOS displays the applied icon.

PingRoom introduced its alternate-icon picker in version 1.4. It runs on iPhone; this guide does not claim an equivalent Android or browser control.

Check the result without rearranging anything

You do not need to delete PingRoom, remove its Home Screen position, or build a Shortcuts launcher. Use this quick check instead:

  1. Note where PingRoom already sits on the Home Screen.
  2. Make the change inside PingRoom.
  3. Return to that same position and look for the new artwork.
  4. Open the app once from that icon.

If PingRoom opens normally, you are using the real app icon rather than a separate launcher. The app's name and position should remain familiar even though the image changed.

Restore the default icon

Go back to Settings → App Icon and tap Default. Return to the Home Screen and check the same app position again.

Restoring the default is just as reversible as choosing an alternate. It does not reset PingRoom or remove content. If the Home Screen takes a moment to redraw, open another page and return before repeating the selection.

The clay-tile scene above is an illustration, not an app screen. Pingo the Pigeon, PingRoom's official mascot and fictional Chief Marketing Officer, is reviewing the choice with his usual commitment to looking unconvinced. He cannot change anyone's icon, see their Home Screen, or operate an account.

App icon, Home Screen style, or Shortcut?

These three iPhone customizations solve different problems:

What you changeWhere you change itWhat you get
PingRoom's built-in iconPingRoom Settings → App IconThe real app uses an alternate supplied by PingRoom
Home Screen appearanceiOS Home Screen customizationA broader style applied by iOS across supported icons
A custom launcher imageApple's Shortcuts appA separate Home Screen shortcut that opens an app

Use PingRoom's picker when you want one of the choices shipped with the app. Use iOS appearance controls when you want a system-wide treatment. A Shortcuts launcher is useful only when you specifically want your own image and accept that it is a separate shortcut.

The optional Pingo icon has its own design story. For broader display choices inside PingRoom, see how to make PingRoom easier to read; those accessibility settings affect content surfaces, not the Home Screen icon.

Get PingRoom for iPhone, then open Settings → App Icon to choose a built-in icon or return to the default.
