When everything was urgent
An urgent signal keeps its power only when a team protects the meaning behind it and uses it sparingly.
The team discovered the Urgent setting.
For a week, everything was urgent.
Build complete.
Standup starting.
New comment.
Lunch arrived.
By Friday, urgent meant ordinary.
The delivery priority still worked. The promise behind it did not.
So they separated two questions:
Does this need attention now?
Does someone need to confirm it?
Urgent was for the first. Requiring confirmation was for the second.
Fewer Pings asked to break through. When a response mattered, the event stayed open until someone confirmed it or it expired.
Urgent keeps its meaning only while most Pings are not.
