The rehearsal door is open

The first musician unlocks the room and lets the band know they can bring their instruments inside.

The rehearsal room key lived behind the community centre desk. Whoever arrived first collected it, found the right corridor, and let the others know they could come in.

On Tuesday, that was Dev. He unlocked the red door, switched on the lamps, and moved a stack of folding chairs away from the amplifier.

The band had a PingRoom room with a Quick Ping labelled “Rehearsal room open.” Dev tapped it before taking his guitar out of its case.

Ruth was outside with a keyboard balanced on her trolley. She saw the Ping and headed through reception. Ben finished his coffee in the courtyard and followed her down the corridor.

They still had a whole discussion ahead of them about the second song. First, Ruth needed help getting the keyboard around the corner. Dev heard the trolley and came to the door.
