The bench beside the plane tree
One runner reaches the agreed bench and sends the detail that brings everyone to the same starting point.
The running group had three usual starting points and a different opinion about each one.
On Thursday, Lena arrived first. The gate near the café was still shut, but the path by the pond was open. She walked to the red bench beneath the plane tree and set down her water bottle.
Their PingRoom room had a Quick Ping for that exact spot: “At the plane-tree bench.” Lena tapped it once she was there.
Omar saw the Ping while tying his shoes outside the park. He took the pond entrance. Jess, already stretching by the café, crossed the footbridge instead of waiting at the locked gate.
When they reached the bench, Lena was finishing her warm-up. Omar left his spare layer beside her bottle. They decided which loop to run while walking toward the path.
