Book club moves to the back room

When the café window gets too noisy, Inez sends the new meeting location before the others arrive.

The book club usually met beside the café window. Tonight, a noisy repair outside made it difficult to hear even the person across the table.

The owner offered the small room at the back. Inez carried her books through, counted enough chairs, and checked that the others could find the door behind the counter.

Their PingRoom room had a saved Quick Ping for evenings here: “Book club in the back room.” Once the table was ready, Inez sent it.

Theo saw the Ping as he arrived. He ordered tea, then went straight past the empty window table. Mara joined him carrying the copy she had filled with folded paper markers.

The room had no view of the street. It did have space for everyone’s books, and Inez could hear Mara’s first objection without leaning across the table.
