PingRoom v1.2: Rooms, Organized

The biggest update since launch: Organized Rooms, a first-room journey for new signups, link attachments on Pings, an interactive Watch widget, and every sound now free.

Since the App Store release, one thing became obvious: people don't have one room. They have a dozen. Family. A couple of side projects. A public broadcast room they follow. Their own personal card. And they were all landing in a single flat list.

v1.2 is the update that gives those rooms a shape, and makes the first minute in the app feel like the product actually works.

Organized Rooms

The Ping tab now sorts your rooms into a pager: Private, Public, and Personal. Swipe between them instead of scrolling one long list.

Inside each page you can group rooms into folders, pin the folders that matter, and file a room away with a long-press. When Organized Rooms is on, a folder that mixes private and public rooms splits itself into per-page folders automatically, so the structure stays honest no matter how you sort.

It's the same rooms, the same one-tap Ping. Just finally in an order that matches how you actually think about them.

A real first minute

New signups used to land in an empty app and have to guess what to do. Now there's a guided first-room journey:

  • A single-tab gate keeps things focused until you've created or joined your first room.
  • Send a test Ping to yourself in one tap, so the bell proves itself before you invite anyone.
  • One-tap guest start, and a share-first flow when you create a room.
  • A redesigned Welcome screen that auto-plays a Quick Pings showcase, so you see the point before you sign anything.

The promise has always been "one tap, everyone knows." Now the app teaches it in the first thirty seconds.

Pings that carry a link

Custom Pings can now carry a tappable link with a short button label. Fire a Ping and the recipient can jump straight to the thing, a doc, a stream, a checkout, a form, from the notification itself. No pasting URLs into a room name.

Every sound is free

The full sound library, all 25 tones, is now free for everyone. Pick the bell that cuts through for each room without hitting a paywall. Sound is part of the signal, and the signal shouldn't be gated.

On your wrist, without opening the app

The Apple Watch gains an interactive Smart Stack widget: fire a room's Quick Ping straight from the widget, no app launch required. The fastest possible path from raising your wrist to everyone knowing.

The smaller things that add up

  • Tips, a server-driven, iOS-style tips flow that surfaces the right feature at the right moment.
  • Connection notes, private, per-connection notes ("remember how you met") on the people you meet through personal rooms.
  • Redesigned paywall, templates, and Discover, cleaner plan cards, template shelves that mirror real Quick Ping cells, and search that finds your own rooms, exact @handles, and invite codes.
  • Faster feeds (cached Pings render instantly on room switch), a steadier notification badge, and more reliable widget dispatch.
