A Ping That Stays Live Until It Matters
Live Activities turn a changing event into a persistent, glanceable signal, while one-tap acknowledgement closes the loop without opening the app.

A notification is perfect for a moment. Some moments last longer.
A deployment moves through steps. An incident changes severity. A delivery gets closer. A job starts, waits, recovers, and finishes. Sending a fresh notification for every change creates noise, but sending only the first one leaves everyone looking at stale information.
PingRoom now gives those events a live surface. Live Activities on iPhone and sticky live updates on Android keep the current state visible as it changes, and a new acknowledgement action lets the person on the other side say, "I saw this," with one tap.
One event, one place
A live update begins with a stable stream identity. Later updates replace its content instead of piling up beside it, and an explicit end closes the stream when the work is done. Tap the activity and PingRoom opens the room it came from, with the event in context.
The first release supports two useful shapes:
- Step trackers for work that moves through named stages.
- Urgency views for alerts whose status or message changes while they are active.
On Android, the same categories render in a persistent notification. The presentation follows the platform; the event contract stays the same.

Acknowledgement is state, not a reaction
For an urgent Ping, delivery is only half the story. The sender often needs to know whether somebody has actually seen it.
A Ping can now require acknowledgement. The recipient gets a direct action, and the acknowledgement is recorded against that event. This is deliberately different from a thumbs-up or a chat reply: it means the signal reached a person and that person took responsibility for seeing it.
That state is durable. It survives retries, is protected against duplicate actions, and converges across the app and browser. When a stream ends or an acknowledgement arrives late, the server resolves the event according to its stored state rather than whichever request happened to arrive last.
Built for the awkward edges
Live surfaces are only trustworthy when their endings are trustworthy too. PingRoom retries transient delivery failures, isolates malformed jobs instead of blocking the queue, and ends abandoned activities when their session expires. Payloads are slimmed before they exceed platform limits, preserving the current message before optional historical steps.
The visible result is simple: one event that stays current, one tap to acknowledge it, and a clean ending when it is over.
