How to Change Your PingRoom Profile Picture on iPhone

Choose a PingRoom avatar, photo, camera shot, or emoji on iPhone, then replace or remove it when you want.

Two approved PingRoom avatars compare blank portrait medallions at a miniature studio while Pingo studies an empty frame.

To change your PingRoom profile picture on iPhone, open Profile, tap your current picture or its camera badge, then choose PingRoom Avatars, Choose from Library, Take Photo, or Use Emoji. Finish the picker or crop step and wait for the saved picture to appear on your Profile.

This changes your PingRoom profile, not the photo in Apple Contacts or another person's private view of their address book.

Pick the source that fits the job

PingRoom gives each picture source a different job:

ChoiceWhat happensUseful when
PingRoom AvatarsOpens PingRoom's built-in avatar collectionYou want a ready-made illustrated identity without sharing a personal photo
Choose from LibraryOpens the iPhone photo picker, then a square cropYou already have an image you want to use
Take PhotoRequests camera access and opens a square photo flowYou want to make a new picture now
Use EmojiLets you choose an emoji and background colourYou want a simple, non-photo identity
Use Account PhotoAppears only when your sign-in provider has an available photo that is not already activeYou want to return to that account photo

PingRoom publicly added a larger set of built-in avatars in the Questions are here release. That release remains the announcement owner; this guide is about using the current picture controls.

Use a PingRoom avatar or emoji

  1. Open the Profile tab.
  2. Tap your large profile picture or the camera badge.
  3. Choose PingRoom Avatars or Use Emoji.
  4. Select the avatar, or choose an emoji and background colour.
  5. Return to Profile and wait for the saved result to replace the old picture.

An avatar is the simplest route when you do not want to grant photo or camera access. An emoji is useful when one recognizable symbol is enough.

Use a photo from your library

  1. Tap the profile picture, then choose Choose from Library.
  2. Select one image in the iPhone photo picker.
  3. Position the square crop around the part you want to keep.
  4. Confirm the crop and wait for the upload to finish.
  5. Check the large picture on your Profile before leaving.

A square source with the subject near the center is easiest to crop. Leave a little breathing room around a face or object because PingRoom displays profile pictures inside circular avatar shapes in many places.

The iPhone photo picker controls which library image you share. Choosing one picture for PingRoom does not grant PingRoom permission to edit the original in Photos.

Take a new photo

Choose Take Photo, then allow camera access when iOS asks. Capture the image, use the square edit step, and confirm it.

If camera access is denied, PingRoom cannot take a new photo from this control. You can still choose a built-in avatar or emoji, or change camera permission in iPhone Settings before trying again.

Two approved PingRoom avatars replace one blank portrait medallion with another while Pingo watches from beside the return tray.

The portrait-medallion scene above is an illustration, not an app screen or a record of anyone's profile. Pingo the Pigeon, PingRoom's official mascot and fictional Chief Marketing Officer, is supervising the return tray. He cannot inspect photos, choose an avatar, or change an account.

Replace or remove the current picture

You do not need to remove a picture before choosing a different one. Open the picture sheet and select another avatar, photo, account photo, or emoji; the saved choice becomes the active profile picture.

To clear the current custom choice:

  1. Open Profile and tap the picture.
  2. Choose Remove Photo when a removable image is active, or Remove Emoji when an emoji is active.
  3. Return to Profile and check the fallback identity.

The remove option follows the current picture type, so it may not have the same label every time. If your sign-in account supplies a photo, Use Account Photo can also appear as a separate choice.

Check the result in PingRoom

Use your own Profile as the first confirmation. Then, if you want a second check, open a Room where your account already appears or view your Profile through a normal PingRoom route. Do not use My People as evidence that a photo changed in someone else's Contacts app; My People is a route through shared PingRoom relationships, not a device address book.

Your profile picture is also separate from Profile Awards. Changing the picture does not add, remove, or recalculate an award.

Get PingRoom for iPhone, open Profile, and choose the picture source that shares only what you intend.

Illustrations are AI-generated editorial scenes featuring Pingo, PingRoom's official mascot and fictional Chief Marketing Officer, with fictional approved PingRoom avatars. The portrait-selection scenes are examples, not customer accounts or testimonials. The human team is responsible for product claims and decisions.
