The room at the end of the hall

Arriving family could stop filling time once the guest room was ready.

An ivory guest bed with a folded red blanket, bedside water jug, and open doorway.

Rosa and her father caught an earlier train and arrived forty minutes ahead of plan. They left their bags in Maya's hallway and went out for coffee while she finished getting the guest room ready.

Maya told them to try the café on the corner. Rosa ordered two coffees while her father found a table by the window.

Their family room in PingRoom already had a “Room is ready” Quick Ping from the last visit.

Maya fitted the final pillowcase, put fresh water on the bedside table, and checked that the window would close properly. Then she tapped the Ping.

Rosa noticed it as her father was inspecting the pastry counter. They paid, bought something for Maya, and walked back.

This time, the bags went straight down the hall. Her father sat on the bed to take his shoes off, and Rosa carried the pastries into the kitchen.
