How to Request Confirmation on a PingRoom Ping for iPhone

Ask one person or everyone in a Room to confirm the next Ping, run a harmless rehearsal, and read the result without confusing delivery with acknowledgement.

Two PingRoom avatars move plain clay tokens toward Pingo at a miniature planning table, representing one-person and everyone confirmation.

To request confirmation on iPhone, open a standard PingRoom Room, tap the ••• menu above its Quick Pings, choose Require confirmation, select One person or Everyone, then send the Quick or Custom Ping you want confirmed.

The setting applies to that next Ping. It records a response; it does not prove that a notification appeared, that somebody read every word, or that silence means agreement.

Choose what completion should mean

The two choices solve different problems.

ChoiceThe request completes whenUseful example
One personThe first eligible recipient confirmsSomeone takes ownership of bringing a cable
EveryoneEvery original eligible recipient confirms individuallyA small group acknowledges a meeting change

Use One person for a shared job where any one member can handle it. Use Everyone when each person in a small, known audience needs to acknowledge the same fact.

For example, suppose a four-person Room needs one charging cable for a workshop. Arm One person, then send Who can bring the USB-C cable? The first confirmation resolves the request for the Room. If all four people need to acknowledge a changed entrance, arm Everyone instead.

Keep the audience narrow. Everyone mode uses the eligible recipients when the Ping is sent; it is not a substitute for attendance, an emergency procedure, or a direct follow-up.

Request confirmation for the next Ping

In the current iPhone app:

  1. Open the Room that should receive the Ping.
  2. Find the ••• menu above the Room's Quick Pings.
  3. Tap Require confirmation.
  4. Choose One person or Everyone.
  5. Check that the menu now shows the selected confirmation rule.
  6. Send the intended Quick Ping or write a Custom Ping.

The confirmation choice is a one-shot send modifier. Once that send is accepted, PingRoom clears it instead of applying it silently to every later Ping. If a saved Quick Ping should always require confirmation, an owner or admin can edit that Quick Ping's own behavior instead.

If Require confirmation is missing, check that you are in a standard Room, that you can send there, and that the Room is not limited to text-only member posts. Personal Rooms use a different visitor flow.

Rehearse it before the request matters

Use a harmless test with people who know it is coming:

  1. Create a small test Room or choose a quiet existing Room.
  2. Arm One person confirmation.
  3. Send Test: please confirm this Ping.
  4. Ask one recipient to confirm from the notification or inside the Room.
  5. Open the Ping in the Room and check that it records the confirmation.
  6. Repeat with Everyone only if that is the rule you plan to use.

On supported Apple surfaces, a recipient may be able to confirm from the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island. Apple still controls whether a notification or Live Activity appears, based on the device, OS, permissions, Focus, and other settings. Our Lock Screen confirmation guide explains the recipient side.

Two PingRoom avatars place several blank acknowledgement tokens into a shallow tray while Pingo watches the count.

Pingo the Pigeon, our fictional Chief Marketing Officer, has counted the blank tokens twice. He is not the confirmer, and his expression is not evidence that anybody saw the Ping. The people in the Room provide the responses.

Read the result without guessing

A confirmation is a recorded action. Other states mean something else:

  • Confirmed means an eligible recipient completed the confirmation action.
  • Partially confirmed means some, but not all, required people have confirmed an Everyone request.
  • Dismissed or cleared is not confirmation.
  • No response is unknown. The phone may be away, offline, filtered by Focus, or simply unanswered.

If the outcome matters and the request remains open, follow the agreed fallback: send a direct message, call, or use the procedure appropriate to the situation. PingRoom supplies the response loop; it does not turn non-response into consent or guarantee notification display.

Keep urgency separate

Urgent Ping and Require confirmation are independent. Urgent changes the requested delivery priority. Confirmation asks for a recorded human response. You can use either one or both, depending on the situation.

Read Urgent Is Not Confirmation for that boundary, or see how Everyone confirmation works when every original recipient must respond.

When your Room and fallback are ready, open PingRoom on iPhone and rehearse one harmless confirmation request.

When Everyone Needs to Confirm the Ping

Keep one important update open until every original recipient confirms it. PingRoom’s new confirmation modes make the rule explicit for CLI, SDK, MCP, OpenClaw, and webhook sends.

Urgent Is Not Confirmation

Urgent now controls time-sensitive delivery; confirmation asks for a recorded human response. Either can stand alone, and a Ping can carry both when the moment needs both.
