Add PingRoom to the Apple Watch Smart Stack, edit that widget to choose one Room, then tap one of the two displayed Quick Pings. A no-input action sends from the widget without opening the watch app. Check the Room afterward to confirm the Ping was recorded.

The widget is deliberately narrow: it shows up to the first two Quick Pings that can send immediately. A Question or an action that needs a link, location, photo, file, or other input will not become one of those direct-send buttons.

## Prepare one Room on iPhone

Before editing the watch, make sure the Room already works in PingRoom:

1. Open the Room on the paired iPhone.
2. Check that your account can send to it.
3. Put the two simplest repeated updates first in its Quick Ping order.
4. Use actions that need no extra input, such as **Leaving now** or **Dinner's ready**.
5. Send one harmless test from the iPhone if this is a new setup.

Room owners and admins can change its Quick Pings. If you are a member, ask the owner or an admin to reorder or simplify them rather than expecting the watch widget to override the Room.

## Add PingRoom to the Smart Stack

On Apple Watch:

1. From the watch face, turn the Digital Crown to open the Smart Stack.
2. Touch and hold the display, then choose **Edit**.
3. Tap the add control and choose PingRoom.
4. While editing, tap the PingRoom widget and choose the Room you want it to follow.
5. Finish editing, then return to the Smart Stack.

Apple controls the Smart Stack editor, so labels can vary slightly with the watchOS version and language. The important result is one PingRoom widget configured for one Room.

PingRoom's interactive Smart Stack widget [shipped with Questions in version 1.2](/blog/questions-are-here). The current App Store listing continues to describe Quick Pings in the interactive Smart Stack as an available Apple-device feature.

## Why only two Quick Pings appear

The widget takes up to the first two actions in the selected Room that do not need input. That gives the small surface a predictable rule:

- An ordinary saved Ping can appear.
- An emoji-only Quick Ping can appear.
- An action that asks for a link or location does not appear as a direct-send button.
- A Question is handled through PingRoom's [separate Apple Watch Question flow](/blog/answer-pingroom-question-apple-watch).

If the action you expect is missing, do not keep adding copies. Check the Room on iPhone, remove any input requirement from the action if that still fits the task, or move the intended no-input action earlier. Then let the watch refresh.

The clockwork scene is an illustration, not a watch interface. [Pingo the Pigeon](/Pingo), PingRoom's official mascot and fictional Chief Marketing Officer, is monitoring the important part: one action produced one settled result. He cannot select a Room, tap a widget, or send on anyone's behalf.

## Run a harmless rehearsal

Use a test that is clear but does not create urgency. For example, a household Room could save **Watch test — no action needed** as its first Quick Ping for the rehearsal, then remove or reorder it afterward.

1. Open the Smart Stack.
2. Find the configured PingRoom widget.
3. Tap **Watch test — no action needed** once.
4. Wait for the widget's result state.
5. Open the Room on iPhone or Apple Watch and check History for the Ping.

This is a reproducible example, not a live-device result claimed by this article. PingRoom's shipped widget contract supports the send-without-app-launch path; the recorded Room event is still the useful check on your own devices.

A recorded send does not prove that every recipient saw or acted on the notification. Connectivity, Apple notification routing, Focus, Room settings, and each person's device state still affect display.

## When to open the watch app instead

Use the Smart Stack for a familiar, no-input action. Open PingRoom on Apple Watch when you need to:

- choose a different Room;
- inspect more than the two widget actions;
- answer a Question;
- confirm a Ping; or
- read the Room before deciding what to send.

The broader [Apple Watch group alert guide](/blog/apple-watch-group-alerts) covers that watch-app path. The Smart Stack is the faster surface, not a replacement for Room context.

[Get PingRoom for iPhone](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pingroom/id6758355726), prepare one Room's no-input Quick Pings, then configure that Room in the Apple Watch Smart Stack.
