# How to Let Someone Know You Got Home Safe

To let someone know you got home safe, create a room with that trusted person and add a **Home safe** action. Tap it when you arrive. If you want the check-in to happen automatically, connect the same action to a device-side location trigger.

## The reliable manual setup

Use a room dedicated to check-ins so the meaning never gets lost. Good actions are **Leaving now**, **Home safe**, **Running late**, and **Call me**. The recipient sees the room, sender, and selected action in one notification.

A manual tap has one major advantage: it confirms that you consciously checked in. It works well after a late shift, date, solo walk, or trip home.

## The automatic arrival option

PingRoom location triggers use the phone’s operating-system geofencing. You define a boundary around home and connect entry to the **Home safe** action. The phone watches the boundary; PingRoom’s server does not receive a continuous route or location history.

Automatic triggers are convenient, but they can be delayed by device permissions, battery policies, connectivity, or platform geofence limits. Keep the manual action available as a fallback.

## A check-in is not emergency monitoring

A delivered notification is useful reassurance, not proof of safety. Agree in advance what should happen if a check-in does not arrive, and use local emergency services when there is immediate danger. PingRoom does not monitor a person, contact responders, or guarantee delivery.
