For situations where speaking across a room is awkward, create a private two-person PingRoom room and agree on a few literal signals. **Ready to leave**, **Please call me**, **All good**, and **Need backup** cover many social situations without requiring a typed explanation.

## Agree before you need it

Both partners should decide what each action means and what response it expects. A discreet signal works only when it is consensual and predictable. Do not use ambiguous codes for urgent situations, and do not assume silence means the other person saw the Ping.

Choose a recognizable haptic or sound, then test it with the recipient’s usual Focus settings. If sound would be disruptive, the phone’s vibration or a paired Apple Watch may be more appropriate. A home-screen widget can make the actions available without navigating through the app.

Keep labels harmless if they appear on a lock screen. **Call me** reveals less context than a detailed description of the situation.

## Know when to use another channel

PingRoom is useful for a familiar, repeated signal. Use a call or message when the context is changing and needs explanation. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services or a nearby trusted person; a push notification is not guaranteed emergency communication.

The design goal is a shared shortcut, not secret surveillance. PingRoom does not tell one partner where the other is unless that person deliberately configures a device-side location trigger.
